Hi. I am probably one of the oldest AMAers here... I was on the Blue Tour 1983! I was in the Chorus and had a truly wonderful time. Will never forget it.

Hello, I'm Chelsea and I was recommended for the summer of '11 tour to Europe. I haven't accepted yet because I'd like to know more about it. Do you need to try out for it? Does it cost a lot to go? From what I've heard it sounds really really cool but I'm not sure what it's all about.

Hey Peeps...

I just found this community. I played Tuba in the orchestra tour way back in Summer 2001- whoa that was almost 5 years ago. I actually had a subpar time - I thought the musical group was kind of the worst I played in, and I was annoyed that we had to eat veal every frickin' day, but other than that I had a great time. My favorite was definitely Vienna by far (we went to Austria, Hungary, Germany, France, etc.). Just wanted to throw myself out there and say - Holla AMA!

My name is Melissa and I just found this group - I'm really excited :)

I was on AMA's Silver Tour this past summer. It was amazing :)
went to Germany, Austria, and France (and my flight went to Switzerland)

I think if you went on the Liberty tour, you were on the tour right after mine...did any of you guys have "Mickey" as their busdriver? he was the COOLEST guy in the world and drove like a maniac. :-D

It was the most AMAzign experience of my life.

Hi everyone! I'm Corinne, and I got back last night from the Empire Tour. I played bass clarinet in the band, and we went to Austria, Germany, Hungary and Italy. I had such an awesome time. I didn't believe it at first, but after going, it really is a life changing experience. I'm really glad I found this community too. So hi to all AMAers!

I just got home from my AMA tour a few weeks ago and I had the most amazing time of my life! I was in the band and choir for the Gold Tour, 2004. I play the clarinet and sing alto.

I miss everyone so much! If anyone from AMA would like to contact me I'd love to hear from you! We can share stories and experiences. I'm so happy I found this!

hey! i'm new to this community, but anyway, i went with AMA to europe in 2001 with the gold tour ~ it was the BEST trip i have EVER been on. we went to the netherlands, belgium, france, italy, switzerland, germany, and austria. the things i miss most about europe is the FOOD (nutella, the awesome breakfasts, etc.!), and i REALLY miss the people i went with. the chaperones were soo funny, hehe =) o i was in the chorus by the way =) and i'm also from GA ~ yea i was one of the "GA peaches" there LOL everyone up north always made fun of our "southern accents" haha =P well anyway, i'd really love to go on one of the alumni tours (AMA sent me something about it in the mail) but right now i don't have time/money to go =\ but i WILL go again someday!

when did everyone else go on the AMA tour? which group were you in? ttyl~!

o and i'm glad i found this community! =)

Hello! I'm an old-school AMAer. I went on an orchestra tour summer of '98. We toured Germany, Austria & Northern France. It was a blast and I met a bunch of cool people, but I've lost track with them all. I was only 14 @ the time so I was pretty much cuaght up in my own dramatic world in NJ. Now I'm a college student in VA but I'll be studying in Spain this semester.

Hope you all have/had fun!

Hey everyone, I am your lazy moderator! I'm really sorry that I have procrastinated this long, but here it is, livejournal's very own American Music Abroad community. We rock. If you'd like to give a breif bio of yourself, what year and which tour you went on and any experiences you had, and where you are now. If you haven't gone on the tour yet, then just say when you're going, and this would be a great way to learn a little about the trip and ask questions!

I'm Barbara, play French horn and I went on the 2002 Empire Tour to Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Italy with a band and chorus. I had been to Europe four times before and I have got to say, it was an amazing trip. The chaperones were great, as were all the people. The best thing I liked about the tour in general was that I went there knowing only one other person from my school whom I wasn't really friends with, but after the tour ended I had quite a few close connections with people from my coach and even ::gasp:: the other coach! In fact, I just went down to Long Island (I live in Buffalo, NY) to visit some friends, and one came back up and is currently here staying with me.

Anyway, I hope everyone had a great time on their trip, and if you haven't gone yet, then I'm sure you will have an awesome time!
